Wim Vancauwenberghe

Wim Vancauwenberghe is a prominent figure in the field of maintenance and asset management, serving as the director of BEMAS, the Belgian Maintenance Association. On a European level, he is an active GA member of the EFNMS, the European Federation of National Maintenance Societies, where he also served as a board member during many years.

With a passion for enhancing industrial performance, Wim is dedicating his career to driving innovation and best practices in maintenance and asset management strategies. His expertise lies in optimizing equipment reliability and minimizing downtime through effective maintenance and asset management programs. He currently works in the Sm4rtenance project on creating a European dataspace for maintenance and in the Interreg NWE MORE4Sustainability project for training maintenance & manufacturing professionals in sustainable asset management.

Achievements

Wim Vancauwenberghe is director of BEMAS, the Belgian Maintenance Association since 2000. He holds a master degree in industrial engineering, is Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) and Technician (CMRT) (by SMRP and Certified Reliability Leader by the Association of Asset Management Professionals. Wim is active in the European Federation National Maintenance Societies (EFNMS), where he is GA member and active in the European Health, Safety and Environment Committee. He also organized the Euromaintenance conference in 2008 and 2018. Wim was up to 2022 also active in the Global Forum on Maintenance & Asset Management (GFMAM) where he initiated the Global Maintenance Day (taking place every year on June 9th). Wim has the privilege to meet and interact with the world’s most advanced thought leaders in the field of maintenance and asset management. Having a keen interest in maintenance 4.0, safe maintenance and skill & competency development, Wim is also involved in several international and local projects in these fields.
